Open letter to President Obama: Keep your promises

Mon, May 18 2009 at 9:48 PM EST

Dear President Obama,

In case you aren't sure what devastation looks like, I thought I'd show you a picture of a tree near death. Now, this tree isn't an Appalachian tree, and it isn't near any coal mines. Nevertheless, it depicts the bankrupt landscapes that result from environmental devastation. Appalachian apocalypse describes it quite well.

Wed, Apr 22 2009 at 5:04 PM EST

They didn't really accomplish that with the interior designs, but the grounds and common areas are an unusual and interesting exercise in environmental awareness.

California Brown Pelicans Die; We Don't Know Why

Tue, Jan 13 2009 at 7:17 PM EST

in the curl

Brown pelicans are dropping like flies, but there are no answers as to why.  Here in Ventura County, we're all intuitively convinced that it's an environmental issue, but no one has been able to pinpoint the cause.

Fighting for the California Coastline

Tue, Jan 13 2009 at 4:28 PM EST

One of the final acts of the Bush Administration was to open our coastlines for oil drilling and exploration. Despite the limits imposed by the Congress, this stretch of coastline, a haven for rare shore birds, the California Brown Pelican, and other wildlife could be threatened by offshore drilling.
