Greenbuild 2009 in Phoenix

Photo: Payton Chung/Flickr Green building experts from around the world will converge on Phoenix, Ariz., next month for Greenbuild 2009. The conference, which runs from Nov. 11-13, will feature a keynote address by former Vice President Al Gore, a concert by Sheryl Crow, and presentations by some of the most well-respected names in the green building industry.
Speakers
Former Vice President Al Gore — Nobel laureate, author, and lifelong environmental activist — will present the Greenbuild 2009 keynote address at Chase Field in Phoenix. Chase Field is the home of the Arizona Diamondbacks and can easily hold the thousands of guests expected to attend the Greenbuild 2009 opening celebration, which includes a concert by Grammy award-winner Sheryl Crow.
The U.S. Green Building Council has also secured seven master speakers for the conference:
- Daniel Wildcat – Director, Haskell Environmental Research Studies Center
- Sylvia Earle – Explorer-in-Residence, National Geographic Society
- Peter Gleick – Cofounder and president, Pacific Institute for Studies in Development, Environment, and Security
- Arthur Rubinfeld – President, Global Development, Starbucks Coffee Company
- Paul King – Chief executive, UK Green Building Council
- Josh Bernstein – International explorer, author, survival expert, and TV host
- Christoph Ingenhoven – Principal and founder, Ingenhoven Architekten
Activities
In addition to more than 100 different workshops, Greenbuild 2009 will feature a Green Building Job Fair, a film festival, a special screening of Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk featuring Robert F. Kennedy Jr. tours of local green buildings, an expansive expo hall, and family programming featuring the first ever Greenbuild Children’s Program.
Green Building Job Fair
The Green Building Job Fair begins at 1 p.m. on Nov. 10, the day prior to the official conference launch. There is no charge to attend this event and a limited number of spaces for job seekers not attending the conference will be opening on Wednesday, Oct. 21. If you are interested in attending the job fair, but you won’t be attending Greenbuild 2009, you need to register on the Greenbuild website beginning Oct. 21.
