Recovery Act explained: Grants

Emmanuel Hales has just posted his third installment in a video series explaining the Recovery Act.  Part one focused on the Green Jobs Act of 2007 and part two discussed the funding set aside for energy efficient weatherization projects.  Today’s installment discusses grants.

 

Hales explains how government entities, schools, small businesses, individuals, etc can apply for these grants.  The money is there, but the grant application process is what gets the money on the streets, so to speak.  Hales is very quick to point out that these are grants and not gifts.  The grants are a payment for a service and if a grant is awarded, that service must be completed in order to avoid penalties, fines, or even jail time.
