Guidelines for green jobs training grants

The Green Jobs Act of 2007 is being funded through this year’s Recovery Act. Although the Recovery Act was passed several months ago, the U.S. Department of Labor Employment & Training Administration (DOLETA) has published a document detailing the guidelines that the agency will use in the green jobs training grant program.
The Recovery Act has set aside $500 million for training workers for employment in the renewable energy and energy efficiency industries. The guidelines have specified five different potential funding areas: state labor market information improvement grants, energy training partnership grants, pathways out of poverty grants, state sector training grants and green capacity building grants. Additionally, special attention will be given to communities that are being affected by the downturn in the automotive industry.DOLETA expects to have the grant applications online next month with an end-of-summer deadline for completed grant requests.
