Earth Hour and Earth Day Events at Atlantic Station
Atlantic Station announces two free community events to celebrate living green, starting with the Earth Hour Family Fun Festival on Saturday, March 27, followed by Atlantic Station Earth Day Celebration on Thursday, April 22. Festival details are posted at www.SoutheastGreen.com under Green News.
What: Earth Hour Family Fun Festival
Entertainment (noon – 3 pm) features the Seed & Feed Marching Abominable, Dem Shelton Boyz, New Knerds, with appearances by Captain Planet, Petunia Garner and Eco Squirrel. Activities for children include arts and crafts, kids' parade, environmentally conscious vendors, performances of the Earth Hour Rap, and children's poster contest winner announcements.
When: Saturday, March 27, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Atlantic Station’s Central Park, 30368
Why: Atlanta’s skyline will join buildings around the globe for World Wildlife Fund’s (WWF) annual Earth Hour by turning off non-essential lights on Saturday, March 27, at 8:30 p.m. local time. Households and businesses are asked to do something quite simple—turn off lights for one hour in a call for action on climate change by pledging at www.myearthhour.org. Earth Hour 2009 gained support from nearly one billion people in 4,100 cities in 87 countries. More than 400 metro Atlanta buildings participated in 2009.
