Solar initiative : Eastern Visayas, Philippines
It is interesting and heart-warming after a meeting with our REIS, GIS team this aftie at U.P Tacloban, leyte.Turning a simple discussion on climatological maps for a forrestry project into our Solar Initiative was indeed welcome. We have more than six thousand ( 6,000) SunTransfer solar lanters thruought the Philippine archipelago and around 600 of those were distributed in Eastern Viasyas thru our Grameen finance, Cooperative microlending partners.
Endearing is our upcoming PASAR Foundation , second beneficiary turnover this september 15th at Isabael, Leyte. At our last Solar User Forum, the single mom/dad's expressed the difference the solar light made compared to their generation traditional kerosene lamps. Less smoke, more study time, practical applications for their hog-raising, net fishing, chicken raising . The list goes on as we venture to increase our presence thru our current Surigao solar partners and a recent Southern Bicol Conference initiative by our Solar partner/funder FairPla.net german initiative.
How can you make a diff? My LEYECO/electrical cooperative utility bill usually hovered around Php 1,750/month. An active endeavor to use solar blamps + traditional LED lower wattage bulbs thru our Militante Family ancestral abode brought it down to php 144/month two months ago. my August bill was a whopping php 77.00 Philippine PESO ! Indeed we can make a conscious choice. A sustaiunable one.
