Money Saving Recycling Tips

Money Saving Recycling Tips

If you are on a tight budget, there are many little things you can do to save lots of money over time. Recycling every day in your house can help you save lots of money in different places as long as you are consistent. Here are some simple ways you can save money and help the environment by recycling at home.

1.Buy a lunchbox instead of disposable bags. Using paper bags every day for lunch creates a lot of trash and can add up costs quickly over time, especially if you are making lunches for multiple kids every day too. Invest in a sturdy lunchbox that will keep your food fresh and that will last quite awhile. In time, the lunchbox will pay for itself and then some.

2.Purchase a reusable water bottle. Buying bottled water is very expensive, and you shouldn’t have to pay for something that you can get for free in your own home. Instead of buying big cases of bottled water, buy a reusable water bottle with a built in water filter. These bottles are pretty cheap and you will never have to buy another case of bottled water again!

3.Revamp old clothes before buying new ones. If you have clothes in your closet that you no longer like or that no longer fit, don’t just toss them away! Try cutting, sewing, or decorating old clothes to transform them into something new that fits your current style. Old jeans can easily be turned into cute skirts, and you can give t-shirts some flair by cutting them up or adding rhinestones.

4.Recycle old electronics for money. There are many organizations where you can trade in your old electronics for money. Some places will give you a bit of cash, while at other places you can use your old electronics for money off of an upgrade. Check online to find an electronic recycling center near you or get the address of a mail-in company.

5.Collect bottles and soda cans. If your family uses a lot of plastic bottles or cans, collect them all in a separate bag instead o throwing them away. After you collect a few bags, take them to your local recycling center to earn some extra cash. Each item will only wield a few cents, but all of those cents add up to dollars quickly.
