Tiny Georgia Bell
Variety: Georgia Bell
Size: Small, especially in my small hand (I'm a small woman)
Taste: Nectar of the summer sun exploding in your mouth
Grown: Without chemicals in my front yard; fertilized with horse manure
Gem of the day: Grow local (i.e., front yard), eat local = better tasting, better for all
This was the first peach of the season! This Georgia Bell beat every store and farmers market bought peach I've ever purchased. Picked from a tree that we bought at Pike's last spring, it was one of four fruits that made it through summer ripeness. One of our other peach trees got hit with fire blight, another beared no fruit, and a peach tree that we've had for two years got hit hard by peach loving squirrels - skunk or chipmunks. No doubt they had a wonderful snack!
