Why International Women's Day is important to the envrionment
As I was writing about International Women's Day for our Celebrate Green blog, I realized once again how you can't be "green," and ignore the plight of human beings. We're a part of the planet and how we treat others directly impacts the Earth.
The war in Iraq has not only devastated the country, but its people, particularly women. How can they be expected to live without harming the Earth, when they can barely stay alive? Human health and well-being is not separate from the health and well-being of the planet. They are inexorably tied together.
So if, today, we care about the Earth, we will do something meaningful for more than half its inhabitants. I will.
