Modular Interior Construction, "Agile" "Flexible" "Future Capable" "Movable"
I represent DIRTT (Doing it Right This Time). DIRTT is the leading innovator of Agile Architectural Interior Products. Simplified - walls, floors, and modular power that can easily be reconfigured as the workspace needs of a business evolves.
By far the most well know product is the DIRTT wall products these walls are called DEMOUNTABLE PARTITIONS. These demountable partitions have been in the marketplace for over 40 years but have never had a great installation base outside of some of the worlds largest corporations. When I say demountable partitions or movable walls to my networking peers they quickly generate an image in their minds of a overgrown cubicle wall. That is exactly what these walls have looked like for the past 37 years.
Along came DIRTT in May 2005. The leading visionary behind DIRTT is Mogens Smed. Mogens and the early DIRTT team decided to design demountable partition that looked stunningly beautiful while creating a universal connection between every wall product the company would design. If you were one of the first DIRTT clients you can rest assured that any DIRTT product you purchase many years down the road would integrate with your existing DIRTT product.
Demountable partitions have many names in the market: Moveable, modular, agile, flexible, adjustable, reconfigurable, freestanding, etc.
COST IS THE QUESTION:
How do these DIRTT and other "agile" walls, floors, and modular electric compare to conventional construction costs?????
There are two cost stages to consider: Initial Build Cost & Lifecycle Costs.
Intitial Build Costs: DIRTT is less in some markets and slightly more in others. I don't mean to be vague but the DIRTT product cost does not change in each market, however the conventional construction costs are all over the board from city to city. The bottom line is that if you average the costs in every market you will find that "agile" interior is EVEN.
Lifecycle Costs: DIRTT and other "agile" components are WAY LESS EXPENSIVE. Consider these Lifecycles:
Conventional Construction: Initial Build.......Demolish, Dispose, Rebuild......Demolish, Dispose, Rebuild......Demolish, Dispose, Rebuild.
Agile / Modular Construction: Initial Build.....Reconfigure....Reconfigure......Reconfigure.....Reconfigure.....Reconfigure
Clearly incorporating a Agile Interior into your building awards you with less ownership costs, gives you flexibility to easily reconfigure your space without marring the flooring or ceiling, and does a world of good for the indoor and outdoor environment.
