As with most life changes, becoming green is a process. So ask yourself, what are your short-term and long-term goals?
One easy place to start is research. How will you know where you want to start? Well, take a look at some of the areas that you can change and determine where to start. Look into what you spend your money on; groceries, household items, furniture, etc… Do you buy a lot of groceries? Do you purchase a lot of housewares? Are you planning to buy furniture? Making a change in the types of materials you bring into your life can act as a springboard to your new lifestyle. Here are some options:
- Check out green buying guides to find great alternatives to your everyday purchases.
- Check out certification guides to avoid greenwashing claims.
- Look into farmers markets and CSAs for your produce.
- Find local natural food coops for your groceries.
I hope that you have found some helpful tips here to begin your journey to your own green sweet spot. Are there any other topics you would like to see covered in this Back to Basics Guide? I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts. I am sure that you have some great tips as well. Please share them here. Let’s write a new song for our favorite frog: It’s SO easy being green!!!
