Heat-when do you turn on the heat in your home?

We live in the Chicago area, where colder temps are on the way. This year it seems they are running a bit later than usual. I am not complaining at all. We lived in Florida for 10 years right before this and I am a southern girl at heart. I like warm weather. That said, we have already broken out the jackets many a day. I am trying to put off turning on the heat though.
Growing up in Maryland, my parents had a firm rule about no heat until after at least the first week of November. That doesn't generally work here though.
It does make me wonder though — at what outside temperature does the heat go on in your house? Or do you have an indoor temperature that means time to turn on the heat?
