A Few Acres
It makes sense to invest in a few acres of land to give you a buffer from the world in general and pollution specifically.
Our twelve acres with trees, and meadows, and streams, provide us with privacy, inspiration, and a buffer from things like, road noise, prying eyes, and and others who would destroy our serenity and personal space. Buying this farm was the best thing I ever did. It's gotten me through some rough periods in my life. We're entertained by the wildlife too, which is plentiful.
Since we're both writers, we need the ability to find some inner peace to feel inspired. Only isolation can give us the ability to write without being disturbed. About the only people we see are the delivery drivers, and the electricity meter reader.
These too could be eliminated with a bit of planning during initial construction. Such as adding a delivery box for fedex and ups, and put the electricity meter on the road to make it easier to read without coming inside, or alternatively install a meter that reports electronically.
