Everyone is online complaining and calling people names for their opinions. If its that big a deal to you then go do something about it. It is an interesting article and i think the author was saying what animals were most destructive to their environment.NOT, to the entire ecosystem.Obviously we suck, but we also should not be judging other people for their opinions.Yay

To the author of this article; if Mankind is that dangerous to the environment then set the example. Place the muzzle to your temple and squeeze the trigger.

Lets define the term animal-animal:
1. any member of the kingdom Animalia, comprising multicellular organisms that have a well-defined shape and usually limited growth, can move voluntarily, actively acquire food and digest it internally, and have sensory and nervous systems that allow them to respond rapidly to stimuli....... Ok i think we fit under the catagory of "animal"
Second of all you who say the human population is to small to affect the climate..... prove it.... there is.... More

that humans took their rightful place at the top of this list. What wasn't a surprise was to see that most of the others only became "bad for the environment" with human help.

Well, at least this article included humans! Isn't the real crux balance? Humans introduced these destructive species into environments where they are causing problems because they have no natural predators. We have killed off their (i.e. rodents) natural predators so the ratios are not kept in balance. We have weakened and depleated forests so pests make a much larger impact. We encroach on their habitat so that they are forced to interact with us or die. Elephants eat trees, so they are.... More

If you don't consider humans animals you are disagreeing with fact not this site. Get over your petty religious or social conditioning. You are an animal, a primate, a hominid of the species homo sapiens sapiens to be specific.

Humans...if there is money involve we will never care about the planet, if there is a profit just forget about GREEN working. We are way to far, deep in and we are not slowing down, no anytime soon till it will be too late.

The only true one in the list is human. Without the effects of humans, none of the other animals on the list would be an environmental danger.

Humans certainly qualify for first but you can hardly blame locusts on us. Humans can create conditions for locust swarming but they do it anyway. We can't say we're connected and the same while pretending we are also uniquely destructive. Almost everything humans do can be found to some degree in another species.

This is a growing problem, it has reached an apocalyptic climax and we must do something about it; lets eradicate all human life from this planet! Then we cannot blame ourselves for the NATURAL WAY THINGS HAPPEN!!

By saying global warming isn't real, you're stating it will never happen. Humans are a main cause for environmentally destructive. Just recently the oil spill in the ocean occurred.

I was growing increasingly upset when watching the previous pictures. It is a fact that WE are the cause of the huge imbalance in nature going on. WE are the ONLY beings not only trying to exterminate their OWN species, but every other species around us as well !!! WE ALL are guilty of it, one way or another!

Actually what this person is trying to say is that we're just basically causing the sooner end of our planet. Throwing out of balance and drowning us at the same time.

The only thing that differentiates a human from an animal is that a human has the ability to act rational. Think rational or be rational. However you want to say it. Animals do not have this ability. At times it seems so, but it is instinct and training. Even in dogs and dolphins.

Humans aren't animals? Well we sure are acting like them! We trash the world without thinking twice- if we're so high and mighty and above them all, why can't we use our brains? We're going to get wiped out with all the so-called low level animals! Who do we think we are, tampering with the natural order of things? Of course we're animals- we have no self- control and we can't think!

I find it funny that most of the animals listed are considered destructive because of the situations that WE have put them in. So we're both directly and indirectly the most destructive animals.

I most certainly am not a plant if that's what you're suggesting. Much as we'd all like to think we're little gods and goddesses running around in charge of everything, we're not.

Last time i checked plants are not animals. They have no flesh they have no bones and they have no blood. they even have different cells that make up they're body. And its not that offensive. We already knew that we were destroying the planet and the fact that you are sitting there and just complaining about being the most destructive "animal" is disgusting stop feeling sorry for your self and do something about it prove the article wrong. try and make a difference

I'm pretty sure that phoenixgirl is saying that humans are animals by pointing out that we're not plants, which are pretty much the only other life form on the planet. By saying that we're not plants, she is essentially saying "What could we possibly be if not animals?"

I'm pretty sure phoenixgirl was trying to say humans are animals by pointing out that we're not plants. And if we're not plants or rocks (and clearly we're not either of those), what else would we be but animals? you're arguing the same point

That you dont believe in something doesnt make it wrong. That you dont believe in God doesnt mean He does not exist. You can believe all you want. Thats your choice. But it turns out you are wrong, then you'll face it. simple.

Humans

Of all the animals on Earth, humans are the most environmentally destructive. It is usually humans who are to blame for the major imbalances — global warming, the extinction crisis, over-harvesting of land and sea, overpopulation and industry. Fortunately, humans are capable of rapid cultural change. They always have a choice — and a chance — for change.
