Eupithecia orichloris caterpillars

Not all caterpillars are peace-loving leaf-munchers. Hawaiian caterpillars in the genus Eupithecia are known to eat other insects and caterpillars. While there are other species of caterpillars that may eat insects to get certain nutrients, these caterpillars are predatory. They snap backwards and grab prey with their forelegs.
