Elephants are wonderful pets. You can train them to do just about anything. Mine lives with me in a one bedroom apartment and has always been great about using his litter box. He also plays fetch. You don't even want to know what I get him to do with his trunk!!

May be if population were not invading their original habitats elephants wouldn't have to fight for their survival ...

It's not because we don't understand or know their reasons that they don't have a very valid one.

It's all a matter of people understanding and respecting the boundaries of creatures meant to be running free. In the wild, or in captivity, they are extremely dangerous. Male elephants in the wild have raging testosterone levels when they sense a female in estrus, and they will charge ANYTHING. In captivity, elephants can be extremely unpredictable. When people work with animals, they should understand the risks accompanying that choice, and I believe a majority of them (such as Steve Erwin).... More

I hope that none of you people are heading to india or africa any time soon!! Elephants are very very dangerous. If they feel threatend in any way they will attack you. Google it, Check on You-Tube and the Animal Planet. I've done extensive elephant research and I can gurantee you that you will never just casually walk up to an untrained elephant and live to tell the tale.

Anything this big can misled as a theat but elephants are harmless they will eat from your hand. They bow down so you ride them. Basiclly harmless. Infact they one of the last decendents of the dinosaurs and if you are worried about a stampe maybe it's because they saw a mouse, You have to wound how something so big could be terrified of something so tiny

they eat out of your hand and bow down cuz they were gentled and trained. but just like a horse, especially a stud, they can have quick tempers. this isnt the jungle book. the elephant is a mammal. the dinos were reptiles (according to science). elephants arent really scared of mice either. thats an old wives tale. again just like any animal, yes a stampede could be caused by something scaring them. as prey animals, they instinctively run. but if ur in a stampede because u made an elephant.... I went to thailand a few years back and seen an elephant show as part of a tour. The men who were riding them had these sticks and if the elephant did something wrong, they would whack them really hard.

I could imagine those beady little eyes filled with rage, I would love to see an elephant poacher being deservingly mushed by an elephant. Ha Ha But I bet elephants are among the most intelligent peace loving creatures on earth.

An elephant has every right to attack if agitated or abused! As for unexpected bouts of rage people are just as unpredictable. I don't blame a wild elephant for having anger toward humans if they have witnessed poachers attacking other elephants, stealing their tusks, and leaving them dead and faceless. If you are afraid of something that is hurting you are you just going to stand there and take it? I love elephants, gorillas, orangutans, any type of cat, and many other animals and at least.... This phrase comes from the process that circus trainers go through to make elephants do tricks. They basically ruin the elephant to within an inch of it's life, after which it can be trained. But if the elephant EVER sees that first person again, they will stop at nothing to kill him.

They fail to mention that a constipated elephant can kill you if you stand behind it once it releases its bowels. A very nasty way to be suffocated I might add.

Elephant

The elephant is often portrayed as a lovable giant, and animals domesticated by trainers and zookeepers can be quite peaceful. But if agitated, abused or if encountered in the wild, an elephant can be one of the most dangerous creatures in the world. Elephants experience unexpected bouts of rage and are known to be vindictive. In India, hundreds of people are killed by mistreated or rampaging elephants.
