The last frontier on Earth
In many ways the deep sea is the last great unexplored frontier on Earth. Far beneath the sun's reach, down in the darkest depths, there is a bounty of mysterious creatures and nightmarish landscapes just now being discovered. In the last 10 years alone, and thanks to the adventurous researchers of the Census of Marine Life, thousands of previously unknown species have been pulled from the depths. Here are eight of the most bizarre discoveries. (Text: Bryan Nelson)

Is this endangered species? Can we breed this species or not? Can we eat this newly discovered species? There are a lot of questions.... Wow!!
Wow. Can we humans just leave anything alone. Why do we need to exploit EVERYTHING? It came from some serious depths, which probably means its existence is needed down there not up here.
Wow all of these are crazy! But there's so much missing from the detail!! Can they smell out those noses they have? Or do they still use gills?
At first I thought the fish were like tiki masks which did not make sense, the i did a double take. wow soooooo cool!
Please tell us what the first creature (the one that looks like two humanoid faces) is called/and or give us more info about these guys. Talk about alien life forms, I believe that these photos may indeed prove that they're already here. Where can we see and learn more of these guys?
Avrim,
The ghoulish critters in this opening slide are deep sea hatchetfishes-- a name which, like the picture, seems right out of a horror movie!
They are also a species with bioluminescent photophores, which may prompt creepy memories of a campfire storyteller holding a flashlight under their nose while telling a scary tale :-)
Though truth be hold, they are actually quite harmless.
What the heck are those?! You never mentioned them in the slideshow...come on!
Deep Sea Hatchetfish, did a little looking about the net and found a possible name for this 1... http://www.last.fm/forum/5/_/572013
