An Asian elephant tosses a pine tree, which was donated by nearby residents following the Christmas holiday, over her back inside her enclosure at Berlin's Zoologischer Garten Zoo on Jan. 13.
Asian elephants have been listed as endangered since 1986, when it was recognized that the population has declined by at least 50 percent over a period of 60-75 years due to habitat destruction.
