Bouncing bundle of joy
Bantu, a lion cub born in captivity 2 months ago at the Cali Zoo, licks his nose during a press event announcing his official debut on Oct. 25 in Valle del Cauca, Colombia.

Originally founded in 1971, Cali Zoo was once known as a very depressing zoo complete with narrow, dirty cages and poor maintenance. In 1981, the ailing zoo changed management and philosophical focus with help from governmental and community support. The reboot ushered a major transformation for the zoo — one that prioritizes the health of its animal residents and celebrates the biodiversity of Colombia.
