Amir Rahim was out on the Arabian Sea, about 180 nautical miles from Karachi, when he noticed a sea turtle struggling in debris at the surface of the water. Rahim is an observer for WWF-Pakistan, so he knew what to do — jump in and help.

He dived in and pulled the olive ridley sea turtle from the water and expertly cut away the debris, which was a polypropylene bag. Once the bag was removed, Rahim released the turtle back into the water. There was a moment of relief as the beautiful creature swam back into the depths.
