Bonobos are among the smartest animals on Earth. As our closest relatives, they have an amazing capacity for learning and problem solving. Kanzi, a 34-year-old ape, has not only learned how to make a fire with matches, but also how to roast marshmallows on a stick — and cautiously chomp on the delicious results.
