On Jan. 3, a traffic camera in Montreal had a close encounter ... of the snowy owl kind. The traffic camera's footage has been slowed down in the video above to provide a good look at the wintry bird.
Talking to CBC News, Barbara Frei, the director of the McGill Bird Observatory, said that the owl was likely looking for high vantage point for hunting. "I think they are attracted specifically to the highway because it has open, grassy fields nearby which is perfect for hunting their favorite prey, which is small rodents," With the height provided by lamp posts (or traffic cameras!), it's a great place to spot a tasty snack.
