Nope, we still don't get it
Democrats, for the most part, get global warming — especially when compared to their colleagues across the aisle. Though you could argue that Democrats should be doing more to protect the environment and fight global warming, liberals generally are a greener vote.
Democratic senators received an average score of 90 on the League of Conservation Voters 2008 Scorecard while Republican senators scored an average of 23. Gallup did a poll in 2008 that found that 76 percent of Democrats believe that we're already feeling the effects of global warming, only 41 percent of Republicans feel the same.
But there are always exceptions to the rule. While most Democrats understand the need for quick and decisive action to fight global warming, there are those who are behind the times. Whether it's because they truly don't believe in the science of global warming or just cherish the cash contributions made to their campaign from the fossil fuel industry, these Democrats have no problem letting green get in the way of their votes. The problem is that there is too much money to be made in "global warming." The focus has shifted away from the facts and is now directed on monetary gain. The truth loses its value when money gets in the way.
We need to take the profit out of Global Warming. It needs to be done because IT NEEDS TO BE DONE . PERIOD. Not for the white, bright, rich, jobs, black, grey,poor , young old educated, democrats , republicans,right wing, left wing no wing.. IT NEEDS TO BE DONE FOR ALL THE PEOPLE EVERY WHERE. BECAUSE IT IS RIGHT.
Funny how these representatives' opinions run lock-step with their contributors' interests. Why do we, the public, vote for these individuals? They are smug enough to barter crucial resources that belong to everyone, for their own career advancement. That's really what their opinions on global warming are about. Revolting that all of our elected officials "don't get" global warming!! What's not to get? Glaziers are melting. Oceans are warmer. Mammals have lost their migration patterns. The occurrence of asthma has increased (in children) due to our polluted air - as has cancer, birth defects, new viruses that cannot be cured by current medicines.
