Congressman Nick Rahall jumped out of an airplane to affirm the importance of coal. Seriously.
The Democrat from West Virginia jumped out of a perfectly good airplane last summer with the U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute team and used the occasion to show his support for coal. His jump followed up his vote against the American Clean Energy and Security Act which he faulted for not doing enough to protect coal mining jobs. Coal and energy producers are major contributors to Congressman Rahall's campaign.
