January 2010: Korea
On Jan. 3, 2010, a blizzard left almost 10 inches of wintery precipitation on the streets of Seoul. NASA notes that this is the heaviest amount of snowfall recorded on the city since meteorological surveys began there in 1937. In addition, North Korea and China seem to have had more precipitation, but this may simply be because South Korea has more forested areas. Extremely cold temperatures also wrecked havoc in the areas, particularly in transportation.
