8 ways climate change can kill you

  • It's getting hot in here.
  • Extreme weather
  • High temperatures
  • Difficulty in food production
  • Animal attack
  • Poor air quality
  • Lack of clean water
  • Disease
  • Wars
Sweltering summers and melting glaciers aren't the only effects of a warming planet. As global temperatures rise, weather patterns change, food becomes scarce and diseases spread. In fact, the World Health Organization estimates that 150,000 people are killed by climate change-related issues every year, and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has said that global warming poses as much of a threat to the world as war.

What exactly makes climate change so deadly? Check out our list of the eight ways global warming can kill you and find out.

Wild animals too. And diseases, dirty water etc etc. Of course when the world was colder nobody ever died of these things. Its all so obvious, why didnt I think of this before?

As a meteorologist, I find the scientific ignorance here appalling.

Climate change is complex. Scientists are divided. It's neither a "hoax" nor "settled" nor perpetrated by the "flat earth society".

At a recent gathering of esteemed meteorologists, I found a wide range of divergent opinions. I suggest uninformed people shut up and listen, especially to an actual scientist who challenges your preconceived notions.

And don't give me that "all scientists agree" stuff. We.... More

Seems that no matter how clear the science or how accurate the predictions are playing out, there will always be those who just don't get it. The skeptics and deniers have obviously refused to look at the science. They cling to such numb-sculls a Lord
Moncton (not a real lord) or Climategate (proven false) or a variety of other bits of misinformation. There is no point in telling a stupid person that he's stupid because it is inherent in the descriptive word that he won't.... More

Rajan; You don't need to be a scientist to figure out how climate change causes increased seismic activity. All you need is high school. There is no part of climate science that is simpler to understand than this. As to the documentation ot all the other phenomena. I suggest a little reading. It's all out there for those who want to look. For those who don't want to know either through fear or guilt, they will never really understand until they are hit over the head. Too bad because.... There are people who actually think that all pollution stays in the air and everywhere for ever and that the Earth has not had this type of weather before. These are the modern day witch burners, flat earthers and trailer park philosophers who also think that BigFoot is real. There are people who actually think that all scientists are saints despite polluting our planet with their chemicals in the first place. Scientists produced cruise missals, toxic chemicals, land mine technology, nuclear.... More

No way. The rains wash much of it out regularly but we keep putting more in in ever increasing volumes. Of course the gases that mix with the air like CO2 or methane don't get washed out. Since they are invisible we can conclude that they are not there, can't we?
When I was a teen (about 3000 weeks ago) there were no smog alerts. There was no smog.

Beam Me Up Scotty Today 05:52 AM

There are people who believe the earth is 6,000 years old.
There are people who think the earth is flat.
There are people who don't believe we made it to the moon.
Thiere are people who won't believe in climate change even as they are dying of it.
There is a psychology at work here that logic can't fix.

For 24 years we could have addressed birth control, not climate control because over population was the REAL issue we ALL could have agreed on but we ended up wasting a quarter of a century on weather control instead of population control, because of irresponsible CO2 environwMENTALism.
Climate scientists were to SCIENCE, what alter boy abusing priests were to religion and thus a new religion; the cult of Green. They believed what ever they were told and made a virtue out of NO.... More

Global warming hysteria, whose gravy train INGOs and environmental organizations jumped into for the last decade or so, has run its course. Climate alarmism is dying a slow and painful death. Here are some telltale signs that it is in its deathbed, grasping for its last breath:

1. Re-branding exercises

We live in this age of advertisement where if something isn't working, the first remedy is often to change the offending name. Repeated attempts to re-brand global warming are.... More

Rajan Alexander:

"1. Re-branding exercises..."

Your show a lot of ignorance about science and are confusing language descriptions with science. Global warming is fine to use, as is Climate change.
I also suggest you pay attention to the skeptics, since you seem to contradict them. This really highlights the weakness in your POV. If you were interested in understanding what is happening, you wouldn't take the stance you take.

"That statement really shows your motive. Science isn't about winning, it is about understanding. "

Science isn't about winning... but Global Warming isn't a science to begin with - instead a SOCIALIST political agenda. So yea, WE WON!

"The new UK government is probably the most right wing we have seen for a long time"

LOL! The right wing in the UK is left of the Dems in the U.S., especially when it comes to the AGW fraud.

It is no longer a hoax. The truth is in the pudding. The train has left the station with an unprecedented number of climate disasters just this year. The glaciers and poles continue to melt. The earthquake frequency is high. Volcano activity seems to be increasing. Thousands of people die every year due to climate change. Yep, the hoax is over and now we have the real thing. www.stueysplace.ca where you can read all about it and watch videos too.

So global warming caused all those disasters, glaciers & poles are melting - says who? Where is the data to back these claims? It also causes earthquakes, volcanoes - how - scientifically explain this! It seems your global warming can do everything and anything? Can you tell me what it can't do?

If disasters surged this year it is because we are having a strong La Nina - read more:
