Happy Feet
The Best Animated Film Oscar of 2006 went to this cartoon about an adorable penguin whose inability to sing sets him apart. (Luckily, the little guy can tap dance up a storm.) Amid the eye-poppingly choreographed musical numbers there are messages about prejudice, individuality, tolerance and being environmentally conscious. A pivotal plot point involves the over-fishing of the penguins’ feeding grounds, endangering the habitat and the species.
