The Day After Tomorrow
Global warming unleashes global catastrophe in the form of tornadoes, hurricanes, floods and a tsunami — ushering in a new Ice Age in this 2004 blockbuster. The effects are powerful but the plot’s predictable: climatologist hero (Dennis Quaid) heads to devastated Manhattan to rescue his son (Jake Gyllenhaal). Director Roland Emmerich will destroy Earth all over again in 2012, an apocalyptic disaster epic due in July.
