Waterworld
Critically panned when it was released in 1995, Waterworld, a Kevin Costner flick, was a disaster on two levels, making back only $88 million of its reported $175 million budget. The plot is silly, but the circumstance is plausibly grim — it’s set in a future where polar ice caps have melted, flooding the planet and forcing survivors to travel the seas in search of dry land and fresh water.

Comments
Waterworld is entirely implausible. Much of the land, in fact most of teh land, would still be above water and habitable.
