OREO ® Independence is a new ice cream flavor with a patriotic theme offered by Baskin-Robbins in partnership with the USO (United Service Organization). Created in honor of America's troops and their families, the vanilla-flavored ice cream is swirled with OREO cookie pieces, candy stars and strawberry-flavored stripes. OREO Independence is available in pre-packaged ice cream quarts at participating Baskin-Robbins shops nationwide through September (or while supplies last.)
In addition to offering this new flavor, Baskin-Robbins is donating 400 three-gallon tubs of ice cream in support of USO events taking place throughout the summer that show deployed troops, military families, wounded warriors and troops in transition just how much their service and sacrifice is appreciated.
“We’re honored to partner with the USO,” Baskin-Robbins President Bill Mitchell said. “We’re honored to show appreciation for U.S. troops and their families for their commitment to military service.”
Mitchell, who served as a captain in the U.S. Army, encourages Baskin-Robbins guests to thank the troops at home and abroad through the USO’s “Every Moment Counts” website . The website also provides donation, volunteer and fundraising opportunities backed by the USO.
Baskin-Robbins seeks to offer long-term business opportunities to veterans through special incentives on franchise ownership. For honorably discharged franchisees, these incentives can include the waiving of an initial franchise fee; waived and reduced annual royalty rates; and payment plans for multiple restaurants.*
Assisting military personnel, their families and veterans is one of several ways Baskin-Robbins seeks to improve the neighborhoods it serves. The company also maintains partnerships with organizations that support firefighters and public safety officers.
