King Coal made sense when it was the cheapest fuel around. Too bad, now gas is the cheapest and burns 900 times cleaner. How long will coal powered steam plants remain on coal is anybodies guess. But the writing is on the wall and, more importantly, on the bottom line.
As for consumer natural gas, the gas companies enter into long term contracts to protect themselves from price increases. As those contracts expire prices will drop.

This is what happens when wacked out environmentalist try to ban coal powered energy plants and stop natural gas production. Fanatasism has a price. Unfortunately, everybody has to pay the price for someone else's hysteria!

Does this consider the dramatic drop in natural gas prices lately?

I currently live in CT and the amounts seem correct, however I spent 5 years in AZ and that seems like a very very low price point. I lived in the Phoenix area where our monthly bill was $270 just to keep it the same with a/c costs in the summer out there. I wonder how the northern part of the state offsets the Phoenix prices.
