The Wilderness Act of 1964
The Wilderness Act was passed by Congress in 1964 and created a system under which millions of acres of land have been preserved and protected. The wilderness system holds all of our national parks, Bureau of Land Management land, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service land, and U.S. forests.
