Great Pacific Garbage PatchImagine an island of trash twice the size of Texas floating around in the Pacific Ocean between Hawaii and California. No joke. It's called the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, and it consists of 3.5 million tons of plastic and other debris suspended in the currents of the North Pacific Gyre.
