The economics of water
If a water project is to succeed, it is critical that the community get involved. Water.org estimates that a lack of community involvement causes as many as half of them to fail. But there is hope for the many projects geared toward sustainable, clean water options around the globe. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that for every $1 invested in clean water, as much as $3 to $34 will be returned depending on the region and technology. What’s more, investing in clean water would allow as many as 272 million children to attend school each year, ultimately strengthening the global economy with their future earnings.
