While many may scoff at the thought of preparing for the end of the world, there are thousands of people worldwide who are doing just that. They're stockpiling canned food, planting gardens, installing solar panels, buying up ammunition and building survival bunkers.

You may think these people are crazy, but if the apocalypse happened tomorrow, where would you go? Click on the photos above to see our list of the top places in the U.S. to wait out the apocalypse and maybe we'll see you in 2013.

1st, the information on this place is useless. 2nd, i ain't tellin y'all where my hidey hole is lol. Now for those who want to survive, listen to what i have to say, i have done a lot of research about this. In history people have always gone underground, look up daryn kuyu, the hopi indian origin myths. Once you have your hole, you need a way to make fire, purify water, hunt and fish. Stock up now, have at least one month emergency rations for your family and plan clothing for all weather.... More

Look man. Here's the best advice I can give. Its also my game plan. Just like the man above said... Seek higher ground... The higher the elevation.. The less chance there is for contamination of natural resources. Have a good line of defense. Knowing how to keep your mouth shut, move stealthy, know how to fight. If you want a weapon choose something in the line of a baseball bat. For 2 reasons: during the post apocalypse money doesn't matter. What matters is food, water, ammunition and.... More

i agree with almost everything you said, i'm choosing underground in case there some kind of nuclear fallout, but hey you go up, i'll go down....after it's over we can meet in the middle and rebuild

Cheynne Mountain & Mount Weather are just two of the many military underground sites. The elite think they will be well protected. That may change when they come out of the hole in the ground.

You are a freak obsessed with blood and death and dying. Keep your blood drinking ritual cannibal cult away from my family. You a freak of nature.

If you all believe all this dooms day event. Dont pay your social security or your taxes for the next coming years. Go change your W-4 forms and get your money Now. If the gov comes after you, by the time they impose penalties and fease, we will all cash out.

The only battle we all have is to maintain our happiness inspite what ever happens outside. That way is the guarantee for a beginning.

This article info was very useless. Dont waist your time. Most of these places mentioned, are either for the super rich only, or you have to be a High Ranking Politician. Not very usefull for common man, and like someone stated above, who would want to survive this anyway? Have you seen The Road, I wouldn;t want to live in a world like that, and it could easily be like that or worse. Besides, my spaceship will be picking me up !! LOL !!!

They would sell the heck outta those solar panels IF they were affordable. Everybody thinks they have to retire next yr so solar panels are NOT close to being affordable. By the way, solar panels will NOT help you survive the apocalypse-the sun will be blocked out.

Use a little common sense. Stay away from coastlines and areas prone to earthquakes. The fact is, if there is an extinction level event headed our way, there's little anyone can do to prepare. Who would want to survive anyway?

We should not love this world more than god, the god within us, the one closer than our skin. To save or not to save, you will loose your life by trying to save it. Under ground bonker, ha haaa ha ha. God is everywhere, past-present-future. All one. For i shall be with you allways. J. Hint > There is no death.....s

yes its vague, but click onto the pictures, and theres the articals...but they are really useless. it advise to go to cheynne mountain in colorado. but watched a show on this subject. and they stated ,they have orders to shoot to kill. same a the weather mountain, its for the politicians, and you would be killed trying to get in. you need to go to high ground, and make you own plan.

What a hinky site design. You have to click on the pics to see the slide showish sequence. Along side each pic is a short blurb about the place. Not very informative and more than a little tongue in cheek. Snide really. Preparation is sensible and not just for "the end of the world." Disappointed MNN. Most disappointed.
