For the birdwatchers

The Carrizo Plain is a birdwatcher's paradise. Here, an abundance of species can be viewed from large raptors like golden eagles and hawks to songbirds like meadowlarks. Many species of sparrows, blackbirds and finches can be found. Bird species more closely associated with the coastline can also be spotted at times, including white pelicans, egrets, plovers and avocets.
