Raptors also have a presence at the baylands. This Northern harrier listens for mice and voles scrambling through the marshes weeds — yes, listens instead of looking. Unlike many hawk species, the Northern harrier relies mostly on its keen hearing to find its prey, which consists of small rodents, reptiles, amphibians and small birds.
