Private wells across U.S. contaminated with arsenic
A recent geological survey finds that at least 13% of private well water is contaminated with arsenic and other elements, such as uranium, boron, and lithium.
Photo: Sharon Drummond/flickr Other arsenic hot spots include the Sacramento and Los Angeles regions of California, western Nevada, the Phoenix area, the Texas Panhandle and New Mexico along the Rio Grande, according to the new study’s maps. Others are found in Illinois, Ohio, south Florida and New Jersey.
