In the Northern Hemisphere, March 20th marks the vernal equinox, also known as the spring equinox. On that day, the sun will pass straight above the equator and day and night will be of equal duration all over the planet, each 12 hours long.

This also marks the official beginning of spring, and what better way to celebrate the season of rebirth than an amazing time-lapse video of spring flowers bursting into bloom to grandiose music!

The video was filmed by Neil Bromhall, a resident of the United Kingdom who's the editor of a Plant Identification Encyclopedia. Because the video is sped up quite a bit, you can see nature's heartbeat in the movements of the plants reacting to the position of the sun and the day/night cycle, something that usually happens too slowly for us to easily perceive.
