$150 billion = 1.7 million green jobs

Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins, CEO of Green for All, recently appeared on a CNN Energy Fix segment to discuss a report that claims a $150 billion investment in renewable energy would lead to 1.7 million green jobs.
Green jobs naysayers are adamant that these new green jobs will kill existing fossil-fuel dependent positions and also pay significantly less. It is estimated that 790,000 jobs in fossil-fuel related fields will be lost, however the 1.7 million green jobs represent a net job increase and takes into account the loss of these jobs.It is true that many of these jobs will pay less, however about 50 percent of the 1.7 million new green jobs will be open to individuals without a college degree. These entry-level positions will come with an entry-level salary, however they will place workers on a path to salary growth in the new green economy.
