The countdown is on – Earth Day 2009 is in two days.  Gap, Inc is celebrating in several different ways:  a Green Festival on 4/21, Take a Child to Work Day on 4/23, and a Re:Solutions campaign.

The theme of this week’s events is “What is your Re:Solution?”  Gap is asking employees to make a resolution to commit to one small change that will have a positive impact on the environment.  Something as simple as turning off the computer at night is easy, actionable, and can make a difference.

Gap employees in the San Francisco Bay area are invited to attend the Green Festival at the company’s 2 Folsom Headquarters in San Francisco tomorrow, April 21.  During the festival, local businesses will be onsite to help employees learn new ways to reduce their impact on the environment.  Some of the businesses that will be on hand to share information about their products and services include Farm Fresh To You, Fresh Snack Pack, Ultra Motor, and 3 Degrees.

Thursday, Gap employees and their children can participate in a Take a Child to Work Day event.  To tie this into Earth Week, Gap is hosting a trash sorting game that will teach the children the difference between composting, recycling, and good old-fashioned trash.  This event will be held at the 2 Folsom HQ as well as at the San Bruno and Mission Bay Gap offices.

The Earth Week events are just part of Gap’s overall commitment to the environment.  “Whether we're saving costs by reducing energy consumption or creating covetable products through innovative, sustainable design, we believe that reducing our impact on the environment can also result in positive business benefits. “ Source: GapInc.com
