Climate Policy News

Climate Policy

The Federal government administers a wide array of public-private partnerships to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions and greenhouse gas emissions intensity. These programs focus on energy efficiency, renewable energy, methane and other non-carbon dioxide (non-CO2) gases, agricultural practices and implementation of technologies to achieve greenhouse gas reductions. The United States government is extensively engaged in international climate change activities in areas such as science, mitigation and environmental monitoring.

The Obama administration aims to make the U.S. a leader on climate change policy, with one of its major goals being to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent by 2050 by implementing an economy-wide cap and trade program. (Source: EPA, Change.gov / Photo: Flickr)
