Infographic

Infographics are graphics that contain a combination of various forms of visual data about a certain topic. These forms include but are not limited to graphs, tables, charts, text, photos and illustrations.

Infographics are designed to present a sizable amount of information in an effiicent, often entertaining manner. Infographics have arguably existed since ancient times in the form of cave paintings and Egyptian hieroglyphics. In 1975, Princeton professor Edward Tufte created what are considered the first modern infographics. Today, they can be commonly found online, and often go viral.

Infographics are a quick and fun way to educate yourself about a given topic without needing to do too much research. MNN has an extensive collection of infographics that cover an assortment of topics. (Photo: Shutterstock)
