Ken Salazar

 
Ken Salazar currently serves as secretary of the interior where he is in charge of the National Park Service, the Bureau of Land Management, the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, the United States Geological Survey and other federal agencies overseen by the Interior Department.
 
Salazar was nominated to lead the federal agency on December 17, 2008, and was confirmed as the 50th secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior on Jan. 20, 2009, in a unanimous vote by the U.S. Senate.

He is a member of the Democratic Party, and he previously served as a United States Senator from Colorado from 2005 to 2009.
 
Before he became involved in politics, Salazar worked as a water and environmental lawyer in Colorado, and he was a farmer for more than 30 years.
