Mining News

Mining

Mining is the process of extracting ore from the earth. Some examples of mined materials include precious metals, iron, coal, diamonds and limestone. The extraction and beneficiation of minerals generates large quantities of waste, which is an environmental threat. Another environmental problem created by mining is the presence of abandoned mine lands (AMLs), which present serious threats to human health and the environment. (Source: EPA / Photo: Flickr)
