Tesla Roadster News

Tesla Roadster

The Tesla Roadster is a battery electric vehicle built by the Palo Alto, Calif.-based company, Tesla Motors.

The Tesla Roadster can last an average of 244 miles per battery charge. It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in a time of 3.7 seconds.

Although the car was unveiled in July 2006, it only became open to the public in December 2009. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Motors, was the first person to receive a Roadster in February 2008.

In the United States, the base cost of the Roadster is $109,000 before a $7,500 federal tax credit. Other discounts and tax cuts apply in several states, as well as numerous countries in Europe and Asia.

Recently, Tesla Motors announced that they will begin leasing the car in the United States for $1,658 per month. This offer includes the Tesla Rangers service deal, where Tesla mechanics come to the car for service and repair, instead of bringing the Roadster back to the original dealer.

As of January 2010, Tesla said it has produced more than 1,000 Roadsters for customers in North America, Europe and Asia.
