Twitter News

Twitter

Twitter is a social network and microblogging Web site created by Jack Dorsey in 2006. On Twitter, users can share news, status updates and a variety of other information in 140-character long messages, or tweets. All tweets are public by default, though users can make their accounts private.

On Twitter, users may follow other users and even communicate with them by place the at sign (@) before the user’s name. Topics on Twitter can also be followed by adding the hashtag sign (#) before a word. For example, conversations about gardening are viewable at the #gardening hashtag.

Twitter has been used by celebrities and businesses to interact with fans and customers, by politicians to organize events, news sites to give links to stories and charities to generate donations.
