Weather & Climate

Weather — what we encounter day-to-day, like sunshine, rain, wind, snow, warmth and so forth — is different from climate, which is the total of all weather occurring over a period of years in a given place. Weather includes average weather conditions, regular weather sequences (i.e. seasons) and special weather events like tornadoes and floods. Climate describes what a place is usually "like" (Seattle has a rainy climate, Miami has a warm climate, etc.). Consult MNN for up-to-date news and information about weather and climate in your area and elsewhere. (Source: EPA / Photo: Flickr)
