This massive 3,400-acre private wildlife preserve in the Blue Ridge Mountains provides an amazing overnight summer camp for second- through 12th-graders. Mornings at Green River Preserve begin with exploratory hikes and kids are encouraged to play in waterfalls and taste edible plants. Campers also tend the on-site vegetable garden, eat the crops at mealtime, and learn how to compost their food scraps. Other activities include overnight camping, fly fishing, nature art, yoga and outdoor cooking.
