What would you do if a fellow mom told you she was starving, our having trouble taking care of her kids, or feared that her home would be taken away? You'd drop everything to help, right? What if that mom were a polar bear, or a gray wolf, or a salmon?

A new campaign from Earthjustice called Save Our Skins is hoping to raise awareness about the plight of these endangered species by appealing to us as parents — especially as moms. As part of the campaign, these animals (and fish) are blogging, Youtubing and Tweeting (yes, mama Polar Bear has her own Twitter account: PolarBearSOS) about the difficulties they have as they struggle to survive.

OK, I know it's just a clever anthropomorphic ploy to tug at my heartstrings, but I have to admit, this campaign speaks to me. And it made me stop and think about what is going on with these critters and how important it is for them to stay on the Endangered Species List for their own protection and the protection of the habitat they need to survive.

So, what do you think? Can you help a fellow mom out? Check out the Save Our Skins website to find out more about what you can do to help a mom who is struggling to raise a family in the wild.
